In my major path, I had to take a class called Cybersecurity Digital Forensics also known as “CYSE 407.” In that class, I had to do a case scenario where I craft a lab plan as well as a lab layout using Visio software.
The instructions for this assignment says: “Read the following case scenario and then prepare a written report that documents and outlines the plan for a lab. In your report incorporate all of the elements stated in the grading criteria. You have been hired to create and run a brand new digital forensics lab for a mid-sized police department. Your assignment is to come up with a plan for the lab for the next 3 years.”
The assignment goes further to state that I must create a diagram for the physical layout. Visio or other diagram software preferred. The diagram must include storage for up to 20 cases, 2 analysis computers, and physical security measures. The lab plan must also include an inventory of equipment needed that includes both software and hardware needed. The lab plan must also be a lab accreditation plan. The lab plan must also include a maintenance plan. Also, finally, the lab must include staffing, a lab manager, and a technician with accompanying job descriptions of both.
